Journalism Scholarships!

Know someone who wants $$$$ for college? Will this person be a Journalism or related major at a four-year college by fall 2012? Does he or she have some connection to the Sacramento area?

Since 1974, the Sacramento Press Club has offered scholarships to students who are preparing for a journalism career. For 2012, they are offering six scholarships totaling up to $30,000. They continue to be among the largest journalism awards in Northern California.

Interested persons: Apply by March 31, 2012, for one of the Sacramento Press Club’s Scholarships, including the $4,000 Jerry Gillam Scholarship. To learn more and apply, go to http://sacpressclub.org/scholarships

ELIGIBILITY:

1. Applicants must be college students who will be juniors, seniors or graduate students in the 2012/13 academic year.

2. Applicants must also have a connection to the Sacramento region. There are three ways to meet this criteria. Applicants only need to meet ONE of the following categories in order to qualify:

a. Students from the Sacramento region

b. Students enrolled in a Sacramento region college or university

c. Students who can show a demonstrated interest in covering news of the Sacramento region. This can include clips of state political coverage, or any issue that you believe ties into the region. Please explain in your cover letter.
